This summer ARS will portray sung and unsung heroes of the movements that have sought to dismantle this country's oppressive systems. Our end-of-program performance is titled I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America, based on the anthology of photographic essays of the same name. We need our local and virtual communities' support in guaranteeing that the presentation is as dope as our subjects. You can help bring I Dream a World to life by donating costumes and props. Please view the images, read the descriptions of our requests and head to your closets (or your mommas', grandmommas' or great-grandmommas' closets) to see if that old faux fur or pussy bow blouse is still in there. Send us an email; I'll share our address, and when we receive the requested item, I'll update the picture description. Thank you for contributing to this project. Thank you for understanding why Black girls need models of Black womanhood that serve, protect and embolden them.
